Tackle It Tuesday
It's Tuesday again. Please be kind.
This is Joseph's art desk. Needless to say he can't use it as is. He can't even find his art supplies under all that mess. Poor boy.
Here is the desk after I tackled it. The harderst part was throwing away some of his little art projects. My mom instinct tells me to hang onto every little piece of paper he ever scribbles on. My survival instinct tells me that if I don't start throwing things away once in a while I'm going to the the first person ever to die after being buried in an avalanche of paper and stickers and glue. (Joseph wants me to point out that one his drawings is hanging up there on the left side.
Does your house have a junk drawer? Ours does. It also has a junk chair. In addition to being uncomfortable and kind of ugly this chair also has the tendency to fall over if you blink to rapidly while sitting in it. Hence, it has become a dumping ground for all kinds of things - library books, clean clothes, dirty clothes, toys, things that need to be taken upstairs, things that need to be taken downstairs and so on and so on.
And here's the chair after. I like how it looks like there's a heavenly light from above shining down on the now clean chair. You'll note that I've covered it up with a Disney Princess throw to try and hide the "old lady" look of the chair. It occures to me though that having the chair clean might actually be a safety hazzard. Now people might try to sit in it.

Our "junk chair" is "the foot of the stairs". I've tried putting pretty baskets their that the kids can just grab and take upstairs when they go to bed but my pretty baskets get left upstairs. Or stepped on. Or just flat out disappearing.
So everything that needs to go upstairs gets piled up at the bottom and my kids have even gone so far as to leap over everything to get to the actual staircase.
Maybe I should do something about that, huh?
Gah, I'm in a mood today, forgive my rambling.
Nice job on your Tackle it Tuesday!
Our junk chair is in my bedroom and it usually holds clothes I'm too lazy to hang up. Great tackle. The desk looks great!
Jen........hurray!! Both projects look wonderul. Regarding the tippiness of the chair. Have someone weld the chair base so it doesn't rock any more, and have it be a stable chair. Then you won't have to worry about any one experiencing apple basket upset in the chair! Great job on the tackles! It was fun to see all of you on Saturday....Grandma Judy
i have a ground for all kinds of stuff too! It's really bad when it gets piled up so, i'm glad u tackled it and looks really nice now! The art desk is really cool! Great place for your kid to express his creativeness!
I just recently uploaded my "after" photos =)
I loved your entry, it made me have a good chuckle. I need one at 2 in the morning!
The desk and chair both look GREAT. But I agree, making the chair look inviting is definitely a health hazard. Don't worry, I've got one too. Come to think of it, I have a couple. Hrmm. I should fix that.
Nah.
It's more fun to watch people go flying ass over end. :)
congratulations on a great tackle and thanx for visiting mine.
im with u on not wanting to throw your kids art away. we all have to come to some sort of realization before it starts to take over the house.
It is amazing how somethings seem to have a magnet for things. You did awesome. Your son's art table looks great. I love cleaning up things like that...my son then think he has a whole new toy to play with even though it has been there the whole time!
