Wow, that's neat

You know what feels really great? Walking into the kitchen feeling all big and droopy and post-partumy and finding that your husband's Sports Illustrated has arrived and it's the swimsuit edition.

You know what feels even greater? Finding out that your husband went to high school with the girl on the cover.

I was out with friends last night, and we concluded that all the men we'd ever dated/been in relationships with liked the parts of us best that were the least model-like. the loved our lovehandles, our buddha tummies, and our ghetto booties. (our guy friend confirmed it; I'm hoping it's not just because he was outnumbered...)

so screw SI and its unrealistic standards of beauty. we are beautiful, and it's our self-diagnosed 'flaws' that make us so.

Oh no! That's just not fair. I'm so happy to hear that you came through all of this without a hitch. I know the weepy postpartum thing, and the last thing one needs is SI. Ack. Sorry! Hang in there...

I know it sucks, but my goodness you've been nourishing life into being! Even when I was thin these mags still made me feel the same--a genuine mixture of "so what, who cares, all they do is perpetuate unrealistic standards" and feeling badly about my own self. Screw 'em! I'm sick of being made to feel inferior.

OK - I made a mistake. I had heard she went to my high school after I graduated, but after referencing Wikipedia, I discovered I am incorrect. My apologies to all, especially Jen.

I just read Jesse's comment. Classic.

I hope that made you feel a bit better. Actually, screw feeling jealous about Sports Illustrated models. I'll bet the cover model never did anything amazing like grow a person for someone. Now that is something to be proud of.
