Blog party!

It's time for 5 Minutes for Mom's Blog Party. It's a week long event where you can show off your blog, find new blogs to read, win prizes and have a lot of fun. If you want to get involved just click the link and head on over there to find out how.

If you're here for the party then allow me to introduce myself. (I had hoped to have my super-cute new layout done but for now lets all just be happy that I'm dressed.) My name is Jen and I'm a 29 year old SAHM with a great husband and two fantastic kids. I like watching cheesy reality tv, reading, blogging, talking with friends, playing with my kids, cooking and trying to restore order to my chaotic house. Very soon I will be starting a surrogate pregnancy. I look forward to being pregnant again and this time I won't be the one changing the poopy diapers afterwards! I'm very passionate about breastfeeding, being an at home parent and parenting by choice, not by chance (that means I'm pro-choice, very, very much so.) Check out some of my pet causes.

Let me introduce my kids since they're what I spend the most time talking about! Joseph is 6 and a half. He has a wicked sense of humor and I have filled my blog with stories about the crazy things he does and says. Joseph was adopted but people often tell me how much he looks like me. His adoption via foster care was really a miracle and we feel like we're so lucky to have him as our little boy. He has Asperger Syndrome and although it's occasionaly a struggle for him (and us!) I think it's really made him into the funny, quirky, brilliant boy that he his. Joseph is a really fun person to be around.

Elle (pronounced El-EE and not El) is 16 months old and an absolute joy. She's friendly and smiley and never minds when I take pictures of her and post them on my blog. She looks just like her daddy with her red hair and great big cheeks. Elle's bright and sunny personality hasbeen a real joy to me. She makes me laugh all the time with her silly little ways.

My husband Jesse is a great guy! He does all the snowblowing in the winter and the lawn mowing in the summer. He fills my car up with gas so that I don't have to do it. If I could just get him to help out in the kitchen once in a while he would be the perfect guy. Sometimes I can't belive that we've been married for over 7 years now. Time flies when you're having fun I guess!

So that's my life in a nutshell. If you would like to know more about me please stick around and read some more of my blog. I love getting to know new people and look forward to meeting people at this party. And please, come back in April because I have something big planned that I would love to share with you. In the meantime, happy blogging!

It looks like you have a fun blog and a busy life!! What gave you the thought to be a surrogate? That is really interesting.

Great party!

So nice to meet you! And, since I am party-hopping in my pj's and robe...I would't have minded if your weren't in your day clothes! We are snowbound in Minnesota today--after getting 2 feet of snow in 24 hours--so I'm being a little lazy. School has been closed and my 9th grader is sleeping-in-blissfully! Although, just looked at the CST clock....I really should get ready for the day before it's over!

Stop by when you get the chance...I promise, they'll be no photos of anyone in pj's or robes!

Hey lady! I didn't even know there was party, I just read your blog everyday! I finally took the time to really look @ your flickr pics, and I can't get over how cute your kids are. Jesse and Elle look so much alike! How can you people live in a world with so much cuteness? Hehe, it must be wonderful.

I' m from the party!

I can relate to your thoughs about your son. My nephew is bipolar and a lot of what you wrote about your son I've heard my sister say about her boy! It's all interesting stuff.

So nice to meet you, and the kids are absolutely adorable.

So what about the new fancy digs here, if we were coming to see the place we would have made an appointment, we're here to meet you!

And you dressed for the occasion, how thoughtful. Some of us are partying in our PJ's. (saves time in the AM and at the end of the day!)

So nice to meet you, come by when you have time. Hope to see you soon!

My daughter has the same shirt as your daughter except for brown-eyed girls! And, my 7 year old son has Asperger's as well. It sure makes life interesting, doesn't it? Thanks for stopping by my place during your party hopping!!

My three month old's name is Joseph! Rock on, sister! Both your children are fantastically cute. If you can get your Elle to scrub your floors, do you think you could send her over here to do mine? lol

Have a great time at the blog party,
April

I just wanted to come by and thank you. First of all for coming to my party, it is so very nice to meet you and know you are another "voice for Pro-Choice". :-)

However, I also wanted to tell you that you made my day telling me I look about 28 and too young to be a gramma. You missed it by almost 20 years, I am 47 and will turn 48 this year. So, you have made me feel very special and your compliment will keep me smiling ALL WEEK LONG! Party On!

I LO-VE that your man fills your tank for you. I was just telling my hubby that I wish so bad he'd think to check the gas levels before he drives home and then I have to fill up with 4 kids in the van and it's -40 C outside.... an area he needs prayer!!!

I thought of surrogate as well, I offered it to my sister who was having troubles a few years back, she had 6 miscarriages. I'd do it for someone in a heart beat. I loved being pregnant and delivery was a breeze - even my last who was 10 lbs 7.5 oz!!! I could keep going for myself but I'm tired of the diapers and the sleepless nights, my hubby being 40 and I turning 35 this year doesn't help either.

It was very nice to meet you, I hope to see you again soon!!

What a cute family you have! I'm especially partial to the redheads as my dh and youngest dd are carrot tops as well. (not to say that your son and you aren't cuties!)

I think it's great that you are doing something as wonderful as becoming a surrogate.

Off to the next party...for now!

Happy partying!

Yep. You rule. I've been thinking, and the truth comes out thusforth: I wish I could be mom. You have no idea! I had a miscarriage when I was actively married and although I'm thankful he and I have no children to fight over, I pray for the day when I can have my own... whether with someone I love/am married to or with someone who will at least support my decision. You are truly an inspiration. I know I leave a lot of clever/hilarious/kinda funny comments, but really, I think you're one in a million.

Thanks for stopping by my party. Hope it wasn't too rowdy for you.
Being a surrogate is amazing! I have always wanted to help someone that way but it was just never the right time.
Now would be perfect but, alas, nobody wants a surrogate who is 39.

I'll have to stop back to check on your progress and enjoy the experience through you.

I'll need to come back to read more about your surrogate pregnancy. That is fascinating. I'm not quite sure what I think about it all, but I will look forward to reading your thoughts and experiences.
